Stephanie Haddox, CMT
Warmest welcome! I’m Steph Haddox, Certified Massage Therapist and ever-evolving spiritual student of life. I own Balance Massage Therapy in Waterbury (est. 2012), and also serve as the director and lead instructor for Balance Massage School of Vermont. My work is based in a “whole-person” philosophy to wellbeing. More clearly stated, I take into consideration all aspects of being: physical – mental – emotional (mind – body – spirit). Each and every client experiences a comprehensive, attentive approach. In your session, you will receive a fully-customized massage based on what your body needs. I will combine my thorough understanding of varying techniques and modalities to ensure you get exactly what you need out of the treatment.
With a background in athletics, I have always been fascinated by the human body and its ability to heal itself with guided facilitation. After experiencing my own powerful healing through bodywork, I gravitated to the field of massage therapy in order to help others in a similar way. I believe in the value of bodywork and the power of touch, as they are exceptional tools for healing.
I am certified in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Technique, Hot Stone Massage, Sports Massage, Thai Yoga Massage, Prenatal Massage, Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Reflexology. I also attended a 100-hour Teacher Training Program at the acclaimed Body Therapy Institute in North Carolina, a teacher certification program specific to massage therapists. While this is not a requirement to teach massage therapy, I felt called to the pursuit of teacher certification to gain a top-level teaching foundation and a unique lens for the program’s rich curriculum, content delivery, and professional preparation.
One of the many things I love about my work in providing massage in Waterbury is the means through which I can help others. I am passionate about working one on one with people who are ready to dive in and do the work! I am the proud mama of two little boys, Tristan and Charlie, and I’m grateful to live this life with my husband, Don, in beautiful Vermont. I am inspired by an expanding spiritual journey, personal development, meaningful conversation and connection, and ice cream.

I am a native Vermonter with a deep passion and love for the Earth, my family and for all that is.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always believed that we could use the abundance of natural resources to provide balance and vitality to life. My grandfather was always exposing us to natural remedies to aid common illnesses.
I have a B.S. in Wellness and Alternative Medicine with a Minor in Anthropology and Sociology. I hold certifications as a Reiki Master and Structural Reflexologist. At the end of November, I will be a certified practicing Shaman.

Prior to my plunge into Alternative medicine, I worked for mental health organizations in both Vermont and New Hampshire. It is through my collective knowledge of mind, body and spirit, that I have developed immense compassion and understanding to mankind.
In this lifetime I hope to assist as many people as I can in reaching optimal wellness. I strongly believe that a healthy practitioner is essential to bring optimal healing to a client. Lisa Friedman Schermerhorn
My name is Lisa Schermerhorn and I am a Certified Hypnotherapist, Energy Medicine Practitioner, Shamanic Practitioner and Coach. I am so excited to be part of the Waterbury Wellness Center!
I began my interest in the healing arts when I struggled through some very difficult times many years ago. I went from counselor to counselor and I just wasn’t getting any better. I met a hypnotherapist and began working with her and I was surprised that I felt lighter and I was able to make positive changes in my life. I was so impressed with how much it helped me; I began studying hypnosis and many other forms of healing so that I could help others. In my studies, I discovered that as children our brain frequencies are much different than when we are adults. A child’s brain frequency is much slower and needs to absorb large quantities of information. Everything we learn as a child becomes programmed at a very deep level. That programming will often make our decisions for us throughout our lives unconsciously. What was modeled for you as a child?
I have a passion for learning and have traveled to Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru, England and Italy to study with indigenous people and master healers. I can help you with your specific needs whether it’s weight loss, quitting smoking, if you’re stuck in your life and having difficulty moving forward, or even improve your golf game! I love what I do and I am passionate about helping others. My gift is my ability to get to the root cause of whatever is holding you back so you can live a joyful and purposeful life.

Virginia Booth, LMT
Healing Arts Center, LLC
Welcome to all! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Virginia and I am incredibly honored to embark on this journey with Waterbury Wellness Center!
I believe in authenticity and transparency and would like the opportunity to share a bit of my professional background, dreams, hobbies, and aspirations that have lead me to be on this divine path with Waterbury Wellness Center. I am a world traveler, who has deep compassion for helping humanity through small acts of kindness to guiding individuals to achieve their best self.
I graduated from the leading school of Institute for Integrative Nutrition based out of New York. Gaining my Board Certification in Health Coaching. It was at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition where I discovered my passion for wholesome nutrition and clean eating, preventative care along with my passion for helping others.
In a world where living conditions are extreme and we have to push ourselves to our fullest potential, it is equally important to take care of our vessel. Our one and only body that we must respect. For if we take care of our bodies then they will take care of us! I strive to offer a safe and comfortable space to explore what is best for our bodies and how to achieve optimal balance and wellness in our lives through healthy lifestyle changes.
After completing my board certification as a health coach, I decided to pursue a career as a Certified Sports Massage Therapist. Focusing on an approach that can heal the body from past and new injuries, ease the mind of worries and anxieties that can sometimes paralyze us and chronic pain that can cripple our daily routines. It has become my mission to seek out knowledge all over the world from California, Jackson Hole, Hawaii to Indonesia to gain insight on the best methods to heal the body and bring clients the sense of peace that they are searching for. Along with my professional background is my deep love for the arts. Six years ago I set out on a purposeful exploration to heal oneself through art.
A part of this process is unlocking the subconscious mind, bravely coming into our most authentic selves and rediscovering what gifts we all have, but have most likely forgotten due to the daily stress of life. It brings me great joy to host, Artist Retreats and Work Shops to help people unblock themselves, gain perspective and clarity to move forward in the direction they desire. The divine in me honors the divine in you. May we all continue to shine bright.

Darby Rutledge, CMT
Hello Everyone! My name is Darby Rutledge, I am a Certified Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner. I am so excited to be part of the Wellness Center and to have an opportunity to share my passion with you.
At the age of fifteen, I had my first experience traveling outside of the US to Ireland with my grandmother. That is when I caught the travel bug. Throughout high school, I traveled to several places but my trip to Rwanda, Africa wasn’t like any other trip. I experienced and heard people stories that some couldn’t imagine and when I returned home I had the knew I was destined to work with people. I wanted to help people heal mentally, physically and spiritually.
I began my journey with healing and bodywork in 2015 when I moved home from living on the small island of St. John, in the Virgin Islands and was feeling ungrounded. I eventually found an interest in Reiki and started to practice balancing my own chakras which slowly turned into practicing on friends and family. That’s when I fell in love with energy and bodywork. This inspired me to learn more and I found myself looking into Massage Therapy courses. The first day of class I walked into our classroom and instantaneously knew that I was where I needed to be. I graduated from the Wellness Center & Training Institute in St. Albans, VT during June of 2017.
I am very passionate about healing and I believe it shows in my work. Working with every individual client on their specific needs and requests during their session. I am certified in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Shiatsu, Reiki, Cupping, and Aromatouch. I am forever learning and hope to offer some unique modalities in the near future to clients to amplify their experience with holistic healing. I am looking forward to seeing familiar faces and sharing my practice with you!

$25 / 60 minute Yoga Class
Living Centered Yoga, LLC
Erin has been practicing yoga since 2010 when in high school she found the practice to be a great mechanism for handling stress, anxiety, and depression. After some traumatic events a few years later, Erin found herself totally disconnected from her body. It was her yoga practice that brought her back and re-centered her mind, body, and spirit. Erin realized the enormous importance of this sacred connection and since then, wants to share this practice with anyone who feels the disconnect.
Her classes are grounding, focusing on joining the breath with movement, but can also be very heat building to develop a strong core physically and mentally. Erin is starting a doctorate program in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine soon so you can also find hints of Chinese philosophy in her classes as well. Erin completed her 200 hour teacher training with Chrissy Lefavour at Grateful Yoga in Montpelier, Vermont during the summer of 2018 and is currently in a Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training program at the Women’s Room in Burlington, Vermont with Beth Kruger. Erin is registered with Yoga Alliance.
In her free time, Erin loves rock climbing, skiing, playing in the lake, and settling in with a cup of tea and a good book.

Jamie McKenzie, CMT and Reiki Practitioner
Shen Willow Wellness
Jamie McKenzie studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Asian Bodywork at Elements of Healing and School of Massage in Essex Junction, Vermont. There she became certified in shiatsu, amma, Chinese cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, prenatal, abdominal massage and shonishin. Jamie has done numerous hours of continuing education and is also certified in traditional Thai table massage and reiki.
Exploring alternative medicine started at an early age and once Jamie experienced the great benefits, it quickly became a staple within her own healthcare routine. In College while majoring in Fine Art, Jamie took an elective course on massage and bodywork and fell in love, particularly with the Asian studies. The idea of treating the body as a whole and not separating our emotional and spiritual being, transformed the way she approached health. She learned we must be connected to nature and the seasons to seek balance and wellness. Jamie has been eagerly exploring and practicing the wonders of TCM and bodywork and is excited to be offering her treatments in Waterbury at the new Wellness Center.
A balancing treatment deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This session is customized to meet each individuals needs using a blend of shiatsu and amma Asian Bodywork to address a variety of health concerns including pain and tension, anxiety and depression, digestive issues, sleep disorders and much more. Other modalities that could be included are: Chinese cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, reiki, aromatherapy and abdominal massage. The goal for every treatment is to open and reconnect the internal meridians so that healing can occur in body, mind and spirit.
This side-lying massage incorporates Asian bodywork and soft tissue therapy to gently bring mother and baby into a deep relaxation. This is a great treatment for expecting mothers who are experiencing low back pain, sciatica, morning sickness or any other symptoms throughout her pregnancy. When baby is at full term, the use of aromatherapy, moxibustion, Chinese cupping and acupressure can gently stimulate the body and can help induce and prepare for labor.
